Online returns are due by 31 January following the end of the tax year on 5 April. Any tax owed is payable on the same date, and a second payment on account may be due by 31 July.
Private limited companies usually file accounts with Companies House within nine months of their year end. Corporation tax is payable nine months and one day after the year end, and the CT600 return is due within 12 months.
If you're newly self-employed, a landlord, or have untaxed income such as dividends above the allowance, you must register by 5 October after the end of the tax year in which you started.
Sole traders and landlords should keep records for at least five years after the 31 January filing deadline. Limited companies must generally keep records for six years from the end of the financial year.
